I have to heal my battered team, even though it means facing this woman again. Her smile is so saccharine, it could give me diabetes - but I know what lurks behind that face so identical to all of the others.
Right now though, I'm just thankful that she is unquestioningly bringing us all back to full health. After the mere seconds I have to wait for her to finish, I decide to make a stop at the department store to stock up on supplies.
No.
I just said I don't have one.
I leave, and somehow end up stumbling upon a tiny flower shop. The woman inside senses that I am powerful beyond her wildest imagination, and presents me with a gift.
A squirtbottle? How did she know? How did she know that in my troubled past, these were my weapon of choice against my enemies in art class? She tells me that the weird tree blocking the path on the route ahead doesn't like water, and this just might provoke it to move.
The tree wiggles at me as it senses me coming closer. I'm prepared this time, tree.
The tree very clearly does not like what I'm doing to it, and it suddenly whips around to attack. I can finally have a good look at its face.
Well that's... Far from what I was expecting, to say the least. I'm not even sure if I want to catch it. It seems like a rare species, but it's too weird even for me.
This is a much better alternative. Unfortunately, now I have the desire to capture something remarkable. Not necessarily powerful, but something I can just store away and look at.
That'll do. For a dragonfly, this creature is montrous; it is almost as long as I am tall. And it is blindingly fast. Even Flitwick can barely keep up with it. But for all of that, its attacks barely leave a scratch, and it's more prone to trying to disorient Flitwick with painful screeches.
It is surprisingly resilient to capture as well, but eventually gives in.
Why it didn't try to use this ability to shatter Flitwick, I have no idea.
Its tenacity and general dim-wittedness remind me so much of a certain fisherman that I cannot pass the naming opportunity up.
[Boxed!]
...Actually... If I'm not going to be traveling with this one, it would be in my better interest to leave it where it will gain experience anyway.
The Day Care service. I knew these people would come in handy at some point. They are very kind, and even let Ralph fly around freely in the pen out the front entrance. He will be so happy~
[Day-Cared!]
Back where the evil tree once stood, a fat man I've seen before during my journey through Violet City stops me and gives me a disc since I cleared the tree out of his way. Fittingly, the disc teaches a move that can destroy weak boulders blocking my path.
Ah. New territory at last. And more tall grass to boot. I wonder if this universe has yet to discover those things called lawnmowers.
A doe? A deer? Oh, it's a male deer. Nevermind.
I reach the town bordering this short route and stop by the Pokémon Center just for laughs. My Pokémon are healthy, but I need to affirm my suspicions that there will be another clone woman here - and there is.
There's also this eccentric fellow named Bill. He babbles something about time-travel and things three years in the past, things I couldn't care less about. He also mentions that he created the PC Storage System and that he lives in Goldenrod City. Yes, real interesting. He leaves and I leave shortly after, ready to put him in the back corners of my mind along with most people I come across.
I guess now I have this town to - wait.
That guy said his name was Bill. And he created the entire PC system that is used worldwide by millions? This can be no coincidence! I just had a brush with Bill Gates and didn't even ask him for a few billion dollars!
I rush back to Goldenrod and search every house that will let me until finally I find his "humble" abode.
He doesn't give me the money that I so rightfully deserve, but he does give me something called an E-V. Maybe I can sell it for a lot of cash?
But no, it's just a fluffy squirrelly thing.
It's cute, but that's all it really has going for it. It doesn't fit my team's vibe as well as I'd like. Wilson, I'm afraid you're going to be left behind with Ralph. You two can have amazing adventures apart from me.
[Also Day-Cared!]
Body alterations? How odd. I'm sure those won't come back to haunt me for giving up on this thing.
NEXT TIME: Drama! Suspense! Stalking! Don't go away!
