I know for a fact that some of you (-cough-Knabbs-cough-) aren't going to have much of a clue about what this whole Pokermanz Golden Edition is about. So here, have a brief overview:
That right there, friends, is the box art of this classic. It features the Pokémon Ho-Oh as its mascot, a great flying rainbow fire-breathing turkey. The game was released in the States on October 15, 2000 for the Game Boy, along with the companion game Pokémon Silver, which features Lugia. The difference between the two games? Not much - just a handful of version-exclusive creatures for the most part. Each game did feature different sprites (in-game pictures) for most of the Pokémon, which hasn't been seen in paired versions since then. The games were a huge leap from their predecessors, Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow Versions, even for being on the same hardware. There were 100 new species of creatures. The graphics, while somewhat similar to the originals, were greatly revamped and in full color if played on a Game Boy Color system. There was even a real-time clock system which provided in-game day and night. Unfortunately, this novelty also provided to be the games' eventual downfall - the internal battery in each cartridge only had a life of about seven years due to having to keep the clock system constantly working. Most cartridges are now still playable, but save files cannot be created. It's possible to replace the battery and fix them, but that's a bit beyond my scope here. The game was remade later for the Nintendo DS and released statewide on March 14, 2010 as Pokémon HeartGold Version. Of course, it was paired with a remake of Silver, called SoulSilver. I won't get too much into the remakes, but I will say that they are definitely worthy of their original bases.
So, there. That should be enough for you to follow.
Oh, and why Gold as opposed to Silver? Simple; I like Ho-Oh better.

HAY. Type something intelligent, if you don't mind.
